The Fabrikstraße dormitory runs via the Rossneckar site by default, as we have a considerably higher speed there. As a backup, however, there is also an adequate connection directly at Fabrikstraße.
The connection from Rossneckar (both Internet and the connection to Fabrikstraße) runs past the construction site of the new university campus in Esslingen. However, this connection must be rerouted. We have planned this for a long time and have procured a replacement line for the Rossneckar dormitory during the reconstruction. This also works and was therefore not affected by the cable rerouting that started today.
However, the backup line, which goes directly to Fabrikstraße, has had problems of a technical nature. As a result, the tunnel to our site in Vaihingen did not work. That is why the traffic did not automatically switch to the backup link today when the line to Rossneckar was cut. Since we need the backup line only very rarely due to a network of several switches in the Rossneckar to several switches in the Fabrickstraße, the problem was not noticed before. However, we were able to solve the problem. Since approx. 12:05 the Fabrikstraße is again supplied with Internet. As soon as the cable rerouting to Rossneckar is completed, we will then also have a functioning second connection, so that the next time there is a problem with devices in Rossneckar, Fabrickstraße should not be affected.
