All of our services are affected by a major outage of the dormitory network.
We are investigating.
Dear members,
after several hours of debugging, yesterday evening we successfully managed to identify the suspected root cause of the network outages of the last days. Since we were able to reproduce a similar kind of outage we are reasonably confident that we've identified the root cause of the issue and therefore assume the network connection to be stable again.
Part of this issue is caused by a malfunction in one of our network devices, which we are currently trying to resolve in cooperation with the manufacturer. As of now we have taken precautions to prevent this bug from being triggered in the first place.
Should you be affected by further network disruptions, please feel free to contact us.
Best regards,
the team of Selfnet e.V.
In the last couple of days (since February 17th) we've had several major outages affecting our whole network. Currently we're investigating the issue and work on a solution.
We know that in times of the pandemic the internet is exceptionally important for all of us and are therefore very kindly asking for your understanding and patience. Selfnet is operated entirely by volunteers who do their best to resolve the issues as fast as possible. The most of us are students as well, so if you want to join us in working on the problem, you're more than welcome to do so!
Currently we think that the cause of the issue could be similiar to the one we described in our blog some time ago:

Therefore a ticket with the manufacturer of our networking hardware is already opened.
